Summary: Edward could never really tell her what was wrong.
Edward could never really tell her what was wrong. He tried, god help him, he tried. But even with as far in as she was, even with his increasing need for the rough sex and the desperate holding afterwards and the contact both brought him, he couldn't quite bring forth the words to let her understand why it was his world was the way it was. Why it was that her world was now the same.
He'd been silent so long, he’d forgotten how to speak.
The best he could offer her was afterwards, when she was shaking in the aftermath of orgasm, was to hold her tightly and allow himself some of the tears he'd spent years denying himself. She'd hold him just as tightly, not saying anything about his crying, just being the shoulder he'd been so desperate for and needed so much for the last four years- five years, really, since that night in Rizenbul.
He wished like hell he could offer her even a little bit in explanation for why things were the way they were. But all he could do was cry into her hair and hope she'd understand the hurt, and hope that’d be enough.
